January 21st
Happy Tuesday! I hope most of you enjoyed your 3 day weekend and had a chance to do something fun with your family! I personally am not a fan of the cold so we stayed in most of the weekend and made a semi-lazy weekend out of it. I still found a way to add a little something to it by having a Mother & Son Fort Slumber Party in his room and showed my 8-year-old how we built forts in our rooms growing up just using a spare sheet. The look on my son's face when I told him all we needed was a sheet for our Fort Slumber Party was priceless! It was a look of confusion, wonder, anticipation, excitement, and joy all wrapped into one cute little face! We had a fun night though and it is something he will remember (hopefully) for the rest of his life!
Our weekend shenanigans reminded me that buying your kids the new cool toy that just came out or going to the movies and having to take out a 2nd mortgage on your home just to pay for the popcorn & soft drink isn't going to create lasting memories for them. Sometimes all you need is an old sheet and stories about your super cool sheet forts growing up. Those are what make lasting memories with your kids that they can even pass on to their children and it doesn't cost anything!
