Ferry Service Has Resumed At Hammocks Beach

By Lisa Hamilton September 3, 2019

The Hammocks Beach State Park ferry service has not been running since Hurricane Florance came through in September 2018 due to extensive damage to the docks. The repairs took almost a whole year to complete but all of the Park staff & contractor's hard work has paid off, the docks look amazing! Let's all keep our fingers crossed that Hurricane Dorian heads much further east and leaves not only our community alone but leaves these new docks alone!

Starting Friday, August 30th the ferry service to Bear Island will resume for a brief time before the off-season. The ferry service will run from the mainland to Bear Island in 30-minute intervals from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm on August 30th. It will have that same schedule throughout Labor Day weekend with Labor Day being the last day before switching over to the off-season ferry schedule.

Tuesday, September 3rd there will be no ferry services!

Starting Wednesday, September 4th the ferry will run hourly from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm every Wednesday through Sunday for the remainder of the month.

In October the ferry will run every hour Friday through Sunday 9:30 am to 5:00 pm with Sunday, October 27th being the last of the season. Click HERE to see the full ferry schedule!
