National Night Out 2019

National Night Out 2019

National Night Out is an annual event that takes place on the first Tuesday of August in communities all over the nation to help bring the community together in order to bring awareness to Youth Programs, Education, Crime Prevention, Health, and Public Safety. This was the 21st year that Jacksonville has hosted the National Night Out event in our area and it has grown so much over the years! Having children as well as adults see local law enforcement in this type of setting is very important, it shows that they are human beings just like us and are here to help us. Unfortunately, there are some children that don't think that way whether it is from seeing something on the news, hearing adults talk about them negatively, or even from a tragic event in their recent past. Having children of all ages as well as adults being able to interact with law enforcement in this way really helps bridge the gap between law enforcement and the community.

The "Back To School" Coloring Contest at the Macaroni Kid table was a hit! Once the kids were done coloring their entry picture I hung them from some twine around my tent, they were coming in SO fast I couldn't keep up with hanging them! So many talented kids that stopped by to color one of the coloring sheets for the contest and I enjoyed talking to them!

Here is Eli, one of the "Back To School" contest winners with his prize!

Congratulations To The Winners Of The Coloring Contest!

This event takes months to plan, has help from local businesses & organizations by sponsoring the event. Here are some of the organizations that helped make this year's event so great: Onslow County Memorial Hospital, The Daily News in Coastal Carolina, Modern Exterminating, Jones-Onslow Electric Membership Corp, Marine Federal Credit Union, Walmart, Golden Corral, Navy Federal Credit Union, Coastal Bank & Trust, Jacksonville Treatment Center, ReCre and more. Also again this year Catalyst Church did a fantastic job supporting the kid's area with lots of fun stuff to do!
