National Take Your Dog To Work Day!

Showcasing Some Of My Subscribers Pups

By Lisa Hamilton June 18, 2019

Every year on Friday after Father's Day is an awesome or should I say pawsome holiday! This Friday, June 21st is National Take Your Dog To Work Day! So on Friday make sure you pack a lunch for your doggie when you pack yours, don't forget to slip a few extra treats in there too! If your employer says anything to you when you walk into work on Friday with your dog just tell them your favorite Macaroni Kid Publisher said it was ok

For National Take Your Dog To Work Day this year I wanted to celebrate by sharing my reader's furbabies! I recently asked for everyone on the Macaroni Kid Jacksonville Facebook page to send me photos of their dogs for an article and here it is! On Friday if you would like to stay up to date on what others in the United States are celebrating this day, use these hashtags.

How This National Day Started:

Take Your Dog to Work Day started back in 1996 in the United Kingdom. A few years later in 1999, the Pet Sitters International founded the first National Take Your Dog To Work Day in the United States.

Introducing My Fabulous Readers Dogs!

Moon Moon (3) & Mishka (1) are Siberian husky sisters from different litters. Together they are a tornado of cuddly ridiculousness. They have no concept of personal space,  but a keen sense for emotions! Both provide emotional support for family members with combat stress, ADHD, and physical handicaps

My sweet pittie Audi was a  licensed service dog who sadly passed from cancer before his 2nd birthday. His Big Brother Sirius yes named after Sirius Black and his little sister Athena are in this photo too. Athena is now 8 mo old and is as big as Sirius. This photo was taken after Audi told on the other two for stealing pizza. (Sirius is an obedience school dropout)

Kenobi is a 3-year-old Siberian Husky he also goes by boobs and boobies (seriously). He was born in my house in October of 2016. He is such an amazing dog, he's great with kids and all animals. He doesn't like toys but he is food motivated. Whenever he rides shotgun he hangs halfway out the window and people will stop and take pictures or videos of him.

Nilla is a golden retriever. She is s year and a half and already incredibly smart. She knows all the basic commands. My 5 year old daughter taught her a game where they race to her toy on “ready set go”.  She loves squeaky toys and taking walks and meeting people and their pets.

My baby Capone is one of a kind! When he goes out to play, or take a stroll on the beach, he gets bad looks and people tell him to leave. His best friends are his brother and sister who are my 3 year old human children LOL. He is the kindest, most loving, and perfect dog anyone could ask for.

This is Ginger and she is about 2 years old. She was adopted from Ruby's Misfits Animal Rescue as a puppy. We sadly had lost our 16-year-old dachshund to medical issues and we needed a pup to help heal our hearts. Ginger was one of the best things we could have added to our family. She is definitely intuned with our family when a family member is having a hard day she will be quick to jump in their lap and lay her head on your chest and kiss your face. She will just let you hold her till you are less stressed or anxious.  She is the best little dog and so happy she is part of our family.

He’s an 11-12 year old Yorkie Poodle. He was rescued about 6 years ago. Ricky is particular about his humans, he enjoys getting caught under your feet and stealing food when he can. Ricky won’t hesitate to notify you of any other movement around your house - mailman, ups, or even those who live there!

Sissy is a 2.5 year old springer spaniel. This breed is my personal favorite & my house/family will always own one springer! She loves the beach and all things food related. Sissy is a velcro dog, she loves being with her momma!

She’s a 1.5 yr old Newfoundland. She’s unique in her coloring, as most newfies are all black. Rosella is quite a stubborn gal, she does things on her terms. She prefers to be playing with our foster dogs or laying in a swimming pool, but she will gladly drool all over your legs for you as well!

Sookie is a 6-month-old boxer. She joined our family a month ago to help fill the void left when our last dog passed away in February. She is the biggest mush. She loves to snuggle and sit on your lap. She is amazing with my 4 children, especially my 1-year-old daughter. I am a huge Gilmore Girls fan which is where she and my daughter Lorelai got their names from.

Jack was born in Burgaw, NC. He is 2 years old. He loves any and all stuff animals perhaps to the point of needing an intervention. He is an amazing dog who like most Dachshunds thinks he is 10 feet tall.  He is very chill and loves to snuggle. In this photo we took a trip to Lowe’s Home Improvement and Pet Smart.

Zeusyboy is a rescue. He is a four-year-old Dalmatian/American Bulldog mix. We’ve had him for about four weeks now. His favorite thing to do is bury his bones in mom and dads bed or reach for us to pet him with his paw. This photo was taken the day we brought him home. He had been running around the yard and was just filled with pure joy to have a forever home.

Mayhem is one of four rescues we are blessed with.   He was listed at a small, high kill shelter in January 2016, Harnett County, NC.   He had no name, was extremely skittish of men and heartworm/tick disease positive, but was the most docile and loving pet.  Mayhem quickly asserted himself as the alpha dog and protects his human (pictured) as if Benji were his own.  Mayhem is a respected alpha where a low growl to the other dogs, is enough to keep them in check.  Benji is his human and the two are inseparable.  Benji has had three open heart surgeries due to severe congenital heart defects and so these two especially know what it's like to overcome odds and obstacles.  It's no wonder, they're kindred spirits.

Twin chihuahua brothers from a rescue in San Diego. We decided to rescue them after losing two pets to heart problems. Our dogs have brought so much joy to our home after so much heartache. My adopted son got to pick them out which made it even more special. We love their hyper personalities. They love to play fighting with each other and Carson has started jumping onto tables to eat scraps- we think they are part min pin because of how bouncy they are. After many pregnancy losses around the same time we lost our other dogs, these new pups began snuggling in around my tummy from before my pregnancy with my son and through to his birth like protectors. They are annoyed by my kids now so it’s kind of funny.

My dogs dixie nova and tonka are both characters. Dixie the beagle was adopted by marines who had an acidental litter. She loves belly rubs and loves to be chased. He favorite treat is anything with peanutbutter! Tonka was saved from a case of neglect. we saved him at 4 weeks old. He has some neurological issues but that never stops him. He loves to play in water and mud and his favorite thing to chew on is a pig ear!

Stinky is a Boston Terrier that was re-homed to us when we moved to North Carolina in 2011. He is 9 years old. He is a loving but crazy dog. He loves bones and laser light. He likes American Journey Grain-free Oven Baked dog treats. The photo was taken at an Animal hospital in Morrisville NC when we evacuated from Hurricane Florence. We wanted to check in on him and our other dog and see how they were doing. He is a bed hog who likes to snuggle up with you. He has a fur sister named Leila who is also 9.

Leila is a Rott/Pit mix. We saw her being given away in a Walmart parking lot when we lived in Tennessee when she was just a  just a pup. Leila is 9 years old and has a fur brother, a Boston Terrier named Stinky. Leila loves to chill on her super large dog bed. She has mild arthritis but still gets around fairly well. She is awesome at catching her favorite treats, American Journey grain free oven baked dog treats. Her favorite toy is her dog bones, sometimes she will take an object of mine, like a shoe or hat and take it to her bed to sleep with. Leila is a super sweet pup and we love her bunches!!

Maze and Luci are budding show dogs. However momma said oh no show dogs don't play on the mud lol especially after bath and nail trim day!

Wesson is 6 months old but full of love, mischief and puppy kisses! He carries around his little beaver toy and sits begging for someone to throw it for him. He is persistent, but at least he uses his manners!

I want to say "Thank You" to everyone that sent me pictures of their dogs! Not only do I truly appreciate it, but I'm also excited to share all of this with the other readers.
