Swansboro Municipal Park's Newest Attraction Is Up and Running!
By Lisa Hamilton
Like most people in our area I have been waiting for this Splash Pad to open, now it finally has! It had a "soft open" last week on Tuesday, May 14th so of course I grabbed my 7-year-old and went to go check it out.
The grant for this Splash Pad was first written in March of 2017 by Brittany Shipp who was the former Director of Swansboro Parks & Recreation. My family personally goes to this park quite often not only because it is close and convenient, but it also has something for everyone from a skateboarding park to a toddler playground area. We got in the habit of checking the status of the Splash Pad just about every time we went to Swansboro Municipal Park and after talking to a few other families at the park they did the same thing. So this local attraction has been greatly anticipated by many local families. The process of getting the grants, funding, and construction is done took a little over a year which seemed like forever to a lot of us but the timing of its completion couldn't have been better.
The Splash Pad is open to the public with operating hours of 10:00 am to 8:00 pm till it closes down for the season on September 15th, and it is free. There are no lifeguards on duty, as well as no age limit. The rules are posted right next to the Splash Pad which are:
